July 20, 2023 I've been a fan of Steamlight for years, they are wonderfully made products with excellent customer service to back them. I bought this not expecting much for it's size, but it is crazy bright for being so small. Works best as a back up light as the battery isn't going to last hours, nor should it, not what it's intended for. The pocket clip will work to clip to your hat brim, but is kinda loose once you attach it, wish it was a little more secure. Other than that I fully recommend as a keychain light, or backpack light, or keep in your pocket, won't even know it's there and is as bright or brighter than most larger flashlights.M. Mora
July 14, 2023 I’m very impressed with this small light. It’s replacing a 20 year old Energizer, all metal framed keychain light (pre LED). The Streamlight Pocketmate has the exact same footprint as my previous edc keychain light and is a vast improvement in brightness. It has three modes, high, low and off. I have no need for other features in a light this small. I do audio/video work and use the high beam (typically) for setting up and tearing down in hard to see lighting. The low beam is used during live events as not to bring attention to myself while troubleshooting. The light has a large amount of spill. At approx. 4’ feet of distance to a wall the hot spot (center) is about 8 -10” inches while spill expands as wide as 6 feet. decreasing in brightness at the edges. Great for walking through dark stages. I highly recommend this light for the price and ability to always have it with you. No, it won’t replace an actual full sized multi function light with an adjustable beam but you almost could with this one.
