At the heart of the Sedona FI line of spinning reels is Shimano’s state-of-the-art technology, the HAGANE Gear. The incorporation of HAGANE cold-forging technology into the Sedona FI gives it a step up from other reels in its class and provides long-lasting smoothness and durability for assured resilience even after countless battles with your target species.
The Sedona FI series includes models for everything from light freshwater to heavier offshore species thanks to improved drag power and increased gear ratios. The 8000 model incorporates Shimano’s tougher Cross Carbon Drag to stand up to the rigorous pressure when battling large game fish. The Sedona FI’s enhanced spool design features Shimano’s Propulsion Line Management System for increased casting distance.
The G-Free body shifts the reel’s center of gravity closer to the rod, translating to less fatigue during long days on the water as well as enhanced casting or jigging comfort. The Sedona FI is available in sizes from 500 to 8000.

August 4, 2023 the 4000 Reel is definitely a great reel for dock or jetty fishing saltwater! Very lightweight and smooth operation. Holds enough braided line for me. I had bought the smaller reel not realizing this but this one holds a good amount of line with no tangles!.James
February 19, 2023 These Sedonas are the best spinning reel for the money I think. They're reliable cast smooth and retrieve smooth too.T Wright
December 8, 2021 I do tournaments and I paired this reel up with my "favorite, Shay bird" rod. 7', MH. I had so many issues with the favorite reels that came with the favorite rods that I needed something new. Read up on the Sedona and I'm using a 2500 size with 10lb flouro on it right now, switching to braid soon. I have caught so many bass using my shimano the drag is nice, and casting... smooth as butter when you set the bail.. I also have a 2500 daiwa that I purchased same time as this one and the shimano wins everytime when I'm on the lake. Will be purchasing this reel again for one more of my rods and I think my new season can begin.Matthew Fogleman
September 1, 2020 Probably the best value in a light reel I've found. I've had many Sedonas and they have each lasted me over 10 years with maintenance. I use them for inshore and near-shore saltwater fishing. Both the handle and the drag are very smooth. Typically have the 4000 reels spooled with 20-lb or 30-lb PowerPro and paired with 6.5 and 7 ft rods. Probably won't last you a lifetime, but for less than $100 they will last a long time. Learn to properly disassemble them and clean/lube them occasionally, just like any other good reel.daddyo
June 5, 2020 Agonized over a birthday combo for my son. Finally threw this on an ultralight 4'8" gx2 with 10# Spiderwire. Very impressed with buttery-smooth long accurate casts. My son pulled up a couple decent bass and lost a big brown (nothing to do with setup. The lack of anti-reverse seems a positive to me. I never personally had to free-wheel a spool fighting a fish. I'm a white-collar outdoors dad who fishes with older middle-of-the-road Daiwa, Shimano, uglystik, and so far the combo is exceeding my expectations. Going camping and fishing this weekend instead of fortnite/video games this weekend - just buy it - it's just $70 and you'll love it.
